McKinley Academy is a school of choice. Interested students who qualify to attend McKinley Academy must apply for enrollment in accordance with the following guidelines.
Who may apply for enrollment?
Any MPSD student entering 9th or 10th grade student who meets enrollment criteria may apply for enrollment in McKinley Academy.
When are applications accepted?
Students may submit applications for fall enrollment beginning with the start of second quarter
of the previous year. Applications will be accepted until the second Friday in May.
If the number of applications received (by the second Friday in May) exceeds enrollment limits, the McKinley Academy Board of Directors will hold a lottery during its May meeting. Those who are not selected for enrollment by lottery will be given the option to be placed on a
waiting list. If and when openings occur, students on the waiting list will be contacted in the order drawn. If the number of applications received (by the second Friday in May) does not exceed enrollment limits, all applicants will be accepted for fall enrollment. Additional applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis until the enrollment cap is reached. No applications will be accepted from second semester sophomores.
How many students will be admitted each year?
The number of students accepted to McKinley Academy will depend upon the school’s current
enrollment and the annual enrollment cap.
